Comunidade Intermunicipal da Beira Baixa

Comunidade Intermunicipal da Beira Baixa (CIMBB) is an intermunicipal authority in Portugal that brings together eight municipalities of the Beira Baixa region (Castelo Branco, Idanha-a-Nova, Oleiros, Penamacor, Proença-a-Nova, Sertã, Vila de Rei and Vila Velha de Ródão), located in the Centre of Portugal, close to the border with Spain. It has a population of approximately 100,000, in an area of ​​5,200 square kilometers. The organisation supports intermunicipal cooperation and regional coordination in areas such as development planning and public services, education, forest management, environment, mobility and tourism.

Role in the project

In REHUBS, CIMBB participates as a demonstration region.The organisation supports the application of project tools and activities in the Beira Baixa region and works with local authorities and partners during implementation and testing activities related to climate-related risks. In the Beira Baixa Micro Hub, will be developed an AI-based fire monitoring system. The region’s participation focuses specifically on wildfire risk management, collaborating on the development and implementation of advanced technological solutions, such as artificial intelligence-based monitoring systems for early warnings and real-time information-sharing tools.
