Veolia aims to become the benchmark company for ecological transformation. Present on five continents with 215,000 employees, Veolia designs and deploys useful, practical solutions for the management of water, waste and energy that are contributing to a radical turnaround of the current situation. Through its three complementary activities, the company helps to develop access to resources, to preserve their availability and to renew them. Veolia participates in this project through its companies Aquatec Soluciones Medioambientales, S.A.U. and Sociedad General de Aguas de Barcelona, S.A.U (SGAB).
Role in the project
In REHUBS, Veolia, through its company Aquatec, contributes expertise related to water management, climate-related water challenges and resilience. The organisation supports the assessment of water-related risks and contributes to the development and application of resilience solutions addressing droughts, floods, and water use in rural areas.
SGAB, part of Veolia, as manager of the water supply and sewerage service in the municipality of Manlleu, will implement sensors in the sewerage network in order to calibrate water-related solutions to minimize possible climate impacts. The company will also monitor the distribution network of Manlleu through a remote meter reading system known as telemetry, which allows it to identify possible incidents and unregistered water levels. Therefore, SGAB will boost Manlleu’s climate resilience, becoming one of the European leading rural hubs in terms of innovation, knowledge transfer and collaboration between different actors in the agricultural, business and municipal fields.
