Adaptation to Climate Change
REHUBS contributes to the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, one of the five EU Missions launched under Horizon Europe, to address major societal challenges and deliver concrete results by 2030.
Climate change affects regions, sectors of the economy, and communities across Europe in different ways, with varying levels of vulnerability and preparedness. The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change supports European regions, cities, and local authorities in strengthening their resilience to the impacts of climate change.
The Mission contributes to implementing the EU Adaptation Strategy by helping regions and communities to:
- better understand the climate risks they are currently facing and are likely to face in the future;
- develop pathways to become better prepared and cope with a changing climate;
- test, demonstrate, and deploy innovative solutions needed to build climate resilience on the ground.
The Mission’s objective is to support
at least 150 European regions and communities
towards climate resilience by 2030.
REHUBS within the EU Mission framework
Within this framework, REHUBS focuses on rural and small-to-medium-sized communities, which are often highly exposed to climate-related risks while having more limited access to tailored adaptation tools and resources.
REHUBS contributes to the Mission by developing and demonstrating a mix of digital tools and practical on-the-ground adaptation solutions, tested in collaboration with local stakeholders, that support local adaptation planning and implementation.<
Mission projects
REHUBS works alongside a growing portfolio of research and innovation projects funded under Horizon Europe, collectively contributing to the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change and supporting regions and communities across Europe on their path towards climate resilience.
Mission coordination and support mechanisms
Coordination and knowledge sharing across Mission projects and regions are supported through the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change Portal, which serves as a central hub for Mission-related information, data, tools, solutions, and communities of practice.
Additional implementation support to regions and local authorities is provided through the Mission Implementation Platform for Adaptation to Climate Change (MIP4Adapt). MIP4Adapt offers technical assistance, guidance, and peer-learning opportunities to help regions prepare, plan, and advance their adaptation pathways in line with Mission objectives.
REHUBS contributes to the implementation of the EU Adaptation Strategy as part of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
